    Default One from the scrapheap...

The Rose mahogany case of this box started life as a small cabinet I was making to store my rotary carving/texturing gear in the shed but didn't even get to glue up stage I keep reading on here, 'measure twice - cut once', so I measured four times and still stuffed it up by using the inside measurement off my scrappy sketch . Decided that after cutting all those finger joints it might as well become something else Added an off cut of nicely figured Southern Silky for the lid and a piece of River Oak burl for the tray handle and some idiot hinges I inherited in Dad's gear - last time I try fitting those mongrels ! 210 x 185 x 110 (210 is the inside height of the now completed cabinet )

    Default I'm the same.

    Hi Vern,
That is the main reason I stick to Turning, as there is very little I have to measure.
That box is another great piece of work you have done.

That one is beautiful! For me, it is very appealing and I am very much impressed on the work and effort that you put into it. Great job .

    Nice work Vern.
Looks great, and I really like the little lift handle on the tray.

Fantastic looking box !! and very well executed. Your timber choice and colour look great. I really like the work you have put in to the little internal tray also, looks great.

    Cheers & Thanks for sharing

Nice one! The timbers combine well, and I like the fine finger joints.

Thanks for all the comments guys - much appreciated The second box which I'm making from the under-sized door frame of the cabinet failure is coming along nicely - a little bit fancier - but I'm waiting on some SmartHinges from the UK to fit on it and they seem to be taking forever

I will disagree. In this case the wood told you what it wanted to be.

    Lovely work by the way.

G'day Vern, that was plan "B". Will be interested in the outcome of the smart hinge experience.

    Default Very nice!

Hi Vern, great looking box! A few questions if I may.
How is the tray supported? Can it slide left or right?
How did you cut the finger joints?

    A quality result, well done.
    regards
    Billy
