    Default Silky Oak with Jarrah

    Finished this box for my daughter's 18th birthday. Pretty happy with how it turned out.

    Silky Oak is a mongrel to finish. I used shellac as sanding sealer, but still ended up with uneven finish because of the open pores. I used a wiping poly topcoat. After about a dozen coats, sanding in between, the finish evened up OK.
