    Default Simple Box with Embroidery

My wife spent many many hours creating an embroidery for her mother. To show it off to full effect a wooden box was in order. I am only a beginner at this caper, but I think it turned out OK.

Silky Oak top, Jarrah base and mystery timber from an old bed headboard in between. The silky oak was difficult to finish - should have read this forum first to get the lowdown on grain-filling.

    Merry Christmas

Looks good to me. You are off to a good start.

    Thanks for the encouragement.

Santa bought me a brand new Leigh Dovetailing jig - guess what my next post will feature.

Well done Graeme. We have a box like this one at home (purchased) and the embroidery is on the inside to protect it from light, damage etc. If interested I could send you a photo but I will not put it on the Forum because it's not my own work. Your wife would be interested in the embroidery.
