    Why?
Besides those who like the aesthetics of slotted screws, what are the reasons for using them over the others?

None that I can think of. But we’re talking about screws for fixing box hinges. Or we were until we got off on a tangent.

Thanks dinosaur. Looks like they only go down to 4g and they don’t have slotted screws.

I ordered some 3g x ¾ slotted screws from the eBay seller I posted about earlier.

You have really lost me in this debate, Jack. What is so special about slotted screws in hinges?

I try to avoid slotted screws in all situations because of the greater propensity for the screw driver to slip and marr the work. Centre drive screws - phillips, posidrive, etc - are far better at capturing the driver and much more foregiving.

There's no debate here Graeme. At least not from me. I like the look of slotted screws in certain situations (esp. if they are 'timed'). One poster doesn't like slotted screws and felt the need to tell me. I couldn't care less. I didn't ask for opinions on slotted screws. I asked where I could buy them.

I agree with you 100% that slotted screws are mechanically inferior to the other options.
