For those interested, the middle slice of timber is the natural wood unmolested.
The darker timber has been treated with the HEMPEL marine sealer and the timber half coated was treated with CA. I am not sure of the penetration into the wood of the CA, but the HEMPEL soaked in 50 gms without any spillage.

50 grams!
Thats more air than timber.
Do you have access to, or can make, a vacuum chamber/pot?
Resin might be a better option on this.... timber.
