A Special Box
Hi All, This is my first post on the box forum and my first photos. I have been making small pen boxes for some time and my son bought me a Gifkin Jig which I have played with for some time making my first box for my daughter. A friend hinted that she would like one for her birthday which is next week and of course SWMBO said "Make Her ONE" Her parents have both passed on in the last 3 years and they were Latvian so with that in mind I looked at the Latvian flag which is maroon with a white stripe through the middle. Thanks to ciscokid Al in America he supplied me with the panel which I am very grateful for.
The box is as follows;-
Box Camphor Laurel
Lid Panel Brazilian Bloodwood
Stripe Kyoto
Internal linings and trays Red Cedar
Ring holders and bottom of trays lined with Suede
Hope you like it.
Photos great.
Thanks to Weissyboy Carl for the CamphorThe Ox moves slowly across the mountain

Nice work mate. Looks terrific. I wondered why you never picked up those pieces of Red mahogany Still got your name on them if you still want them.
You have done an excellent job on that box. Like all your work is pretty much spot on. Thanks for sharing with us. Hope to catch up with you soon.Reality is no background music.
Cheers John

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

Absolutely a beautiful job, David. I love the finish you applied to that piece of work. And what an amazing piece of camphor laurel you got there.

Thanks guys for your comments much appreciated.
The finish is a furniture spray lacquer sanded between coats approx. 4 the suede is micro suede manufactured and I bought it off ebay.
The camphor laurel is book matched and then cut so the grain matches all around the box. I got that from a DVD of Doug Stowe so thanks Doug.
John I am sorry will be in touch.
Cheers
