    Default Swap Box

A UK member and I came to a swap arrangement during the week. I got a deal to make a tissue box with lacewood and receive a cutting gauge in return.

This board is almost perfect, it cuts well but just has an occasional blemish in the grain, but that evens finishes well.

So cutting board down its thickness to produce near quarter sawn piece on the bandsaw.

It comes off the bandsaw with its sawn side almost good enough to just sand with paper if that way inclined. It is 8.69 thick off saw.

After putting through the thicknesser it measures 7.77mm thick.

The parts are set out and I have some luck, that blemish can go to a waste section and board has sufficient timber available to complete carcass. (Note grain of lacewood)

To create sufficient depth for box contrast borders of American Black Walnut are added and glued along the top and bottom.

Hand cut each section this time because timber length is tight. (dodging that blemish)

total waste after cutting mitres for the carcass (10 pieces)

Constructed the carcass usual method and photographed this morning.
