Tas. Myrtle & Qld Silky Oak Document Box
Document box 350 x 275 x 120. I'd done a box previously for this client, and they wanted a similar box, but left the choice of timbers up to me. I had a piece of Tas myrtle that looked good for the carcass, and found the silky oak in my rack, where I'd forgotten about it. When I ran it over the jointer, the rays jumped out at me.
The lining is recycled WRC, finish is a thin shellac sealer coat, then Kunos oil.

Simple but elegant. Very nicely done.

Very nice. Particularly like the way you have routed the recess for the handle, well done.

As usual, very nice work.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

Another box of yours that inspires me.
Obviously putting that new bandsaw of yours to work?
Although it is 12 months old now.woody U.K.

A lovely box. You have used the grains in the wood so strikingly. It is great to see examples of really fine work and to spot the next increment of skill and design to try to incorporate in my own work. Thanks.
