Tasmanian Blackwood, Jarrah and Red Mallee Burl
This box is made from Tasmanian Blackwood, with Jarrah accents and the top is Red Mallee Burl.
The hinges are individually inlaid and my design allows the hinge detail to be completely flush with the rear of the box. The hinge pivot is brass rod 2.4mm dia and completly hidden. I like the way the hinges decorate the rear of the box and become a feature of the overall theme.
Creating the hinges like this presented a few challenges but it also has some rewards. When the hinges are finally glued into place, the alignment of the lid to the base is very precise.
The three internal trays are Jarrah with the centre lifts made from the Red Malle Burl.
The box measures 20.5 cm x 13 cm x 11cm highAnd my head I'd be a scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.

Very nice Ruddy. Love the design and choice of timbers.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."
