Default Always Tea Time At Pammy's

    Hi All,

A very good friend of mine at bowls, I've played a lot of pairs games with her, Pammy. She's been asking me for ages if I can make her a tea box. So it's finally done. She will go bananas when she sees this. The 6 compartments inside, I even surprised myself, they take a box of that Twinings tea bags, like a glove. I made two of these boxes. Other is put aside waiting for whoever wants to have a similar box with their engraving on it.

Very fiddly, getting the compartments spot on. Will see what happens as to whether I make more or not. Not sure if I am that impressed with the hinges, they are solid brass, from china. They come with little pins, but the pins were hopeless. Fortunately I had some small brass round top screws. I've ordered some different types of hinges, bronze plus more screws, from AlliedExpress, see what they are like. I didn't want to use strap hinges like I use in jewellery boxes, just wanted something more basic but looks good.

Another great looking box Paul. Your engraving on the lid shows you have a good handle on your engraver. Even though you are not entirely happy with the hinges (or more so the fasteners) they look good to me from this distance.
A tea box always seems to be on my list but never gets made.

Thanks Dallas, When friend Pammy asked me to make a tea bag box I thought, well that shouldnt be too hard. Then after researching a bit more, the "tea" is a big industry. I had to think of not letting the aromas from my timber/danish oil/wax enter the tea bag. Hence those Twining boxes/bags are perfect as they are sealed. There is a shop up at Coffs Harbour Mall, and all they sell is tea accessories. Walls and shelves full of it, had no idea. I talked to the woman up there. So I had to make it to fit those Twining boxes perfectly. And I wanted to make it look "oldish". Some of that ARC had little cracks in it, I filled with black resin, gave it a little bit of character.

Yes that lazer engraver I bought I don't really use it that much. Some blokes on the Ortur FB group do amazing things with it. Photos on tiles and so forth. I bought the roller attachment with mine and haven't even take it out of its box yet. So the lazer engraver will do what I need it to do.

Hey Dallas, keep your eyes open on this forum in another week or so, not sure what category yet, I have nearly finished a resin coffee table 800 x 400 x 45. About 9 litres of resin poured in with very old pieces of a huon pine slab. Huge job.
