Well done ruddy, great design well executed. What did you use for the inlay in the lid? Is it brass with wooden plugs or all wood? Love the "hotdog" handles on the trays too!!

    Hi Salty,
The inlays in the lid are brass with an acrylic insert. I had taken some old brass bushings from a machine I had dismantled and cut off about 3 to 4 mm of each of the different diameter bushes. I used the right diameter router cutters to make the 3 mm deep pocket in the lid and then glued these brass rings in with epoxy. The acrylic insert is a left over piece from some penmaking I had tried a few years ago. I turned this to suit the inside diameter of the bush and then glued it in with epoxy.
It then needed some careful filing /sanding to get it to match the curve.
And my head I'd be a scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.

    Whoooor What a stunning piece

Is the lid laminated or cut from a solid block?
Can't imagin leaving all that huon on the floor as dust.
