What about for the next box having smaller diamonds not actually hitting right at the edge?

Sorry John for hijacking again. Maybe I'll be excused.

Why make several sacrificial fences as one will do if you make slots in them so you can easily move them sideways as needed. Also very handy when making angled cuts.

    Peter.
Makes good sense to me, Peter. That hadn't crossed my mind. I'll wait until I get the Incra gauge, then see what I can do along those lines.

Great work on that project. The fence really plays an important role to stabilize the piece. I did some resawing, everything should be fair, flat and true.Just saying.

All are welcome to the thread with items of added interest is my motto.

I cut the corner mitres and made rebates for the sliders then got to the glue up stage of the carcass.

I confess I was not confident of a successful outcome because the timber is very porous and glue is inclined to be absorbed by timber also masking tape will not grip the wood and keep in shape. In fact I had to hold corners of carcass to shape whilst glue got tacky and held. (hence glue marks showing on timber)

However I have had a look at the carcass this morning, although scruffy I am hopefull that everything will come right with some sanding.

I am now going to practice that tune "The old ruggeg cross)

    lead sheets | Wikifonia

You have to register, sometimes takes a day but you can just type in sheet music title and get a fake sheet. (the old rugged cross was a 1913 piece so copyright has finished)

The diamond boxes are looking quite good at this stage. Should come up pretty nicec, I reckon

I'd never heard of the Wikifonia site before - I've bookmarked it. I'm not at all fluent, but can just read sheet music thanks to a couple of years of the Musicianship course when I was young, so it'll be handy for stuff to practice on guitar. After 30 years, it's like starting all over again.
