    Hermit, thanks for suggestion.

Did get out to the shed for a couple of hours during the afternoon and got some tops prepared for most of the boxes.

Seven boxes now had their final glue fix! This leaves the box sliders to make and then a finish applied, going to use just shellac this time.
Pictures taken in conservatory because the heat was up to 97far. in there but only 60far. outside or in workshop and that means the glue sets enough for me within three hours.

More progress on this set of boxes, they have now all been sanded and sanding sealer coated, ( I was going to finish with shallac but found I had an unopened bottle of sealer) and just await a wax polish finish.

The item marked with an arrow is destined to an Australian forum member in Perth who kindly got me a spare (redundant) respirator motor for my Triton. The remaining six are going down to our local medical centre in Preston, Paignton.

Getting the urge to start a new set.

They came up very nice, John.
I'm looking forward to your next batch.

I'd love to get my hands on some of that Black Walnut. I don't think it's readily available here though.
I'll have a good look around next time I'm buying timber. The supply is beginning to dwindle, so that's not far off.

Edit: While it was on my mind, I just checked with one of my suppliers and found a nice piece of Peruvian Walnut, pretty similar to the Black Walnut that you're using, so I bought it. Now I'll have to think of a box design to use it on. It's only 480mm x 66mm x 21mm, but that's plenty for one small box and a little left over.

Great job on the tissue boxes.

How about making a pens out of the waste? Might need to laminate a few together to get a good thickness before turning down on the mandrel.

I can see why, John. It looks fantastic. There's another use for those offcuts of your's.

I won't waste the Peruvian Walnut by cutting it into squares, (too expensive and rare), but might use some of my other offcuts to make something similar. I've never made a tissue box. It would be great practice.
I just copied the pic into my collection for reference.

Actually I think I prepared battens around 1 metre long perfectly square and then cut 1" pieces off, put them to a preparation board and patterned then glued up a board one metre long or what ever it was, then resawed on the bandsaw so I had two fronts and two ends, then made a tissue box to my normal fashion.

trying to create a new design myself but tiredness these days and my concentration goes.

Hmm, when I do it, I'll use small offcuts, so I'll have to put some thought into how to go about it to get good results. Not as easy as it looks, I know. (You've got me thinking now.)
