If there's any doubt, can you drill a hole a couple of mm deep, the same diameter as the knobs, for them to sit in?

That's a really good idea, thanks for that. I will definitely use it if needed [emoji106]

Hardware arrived today, might just be able to finish it off this weekend [emoji16]

Managed to fit the hardware. Might be able to remove it again tomorrow to start the finish. Thinking of doing a Danish oil finish on it. The knobs are quite nice and fitted nicely in the clearance. I also need 4 more corner details, I'm not sure how I only managed to order only 4 of them.

That looks really nice with the hardware on and I'm glad the draw pulls fitted inside the front flap. Looking forward to seeing it with the finish applied.

Looking really good, Jacques! Everything looks to fit perfectly, and that’s definitely not easy with drawers, lids and folding panels. Colour me green.

What Homey said. With a design like that, the slightest inaccuracy will stick out like dogs' goolies. Everything there looks absolutely spot on.

Thank you for the kind words guys. I like the way its turning out. I'm just a bit disappointed with the recycled timber I used as it caused some issues here and there. Nonetheless, the first coat of the finish is on. Just need a sand down and another coat or two of finish before fitting the felt in the box and finishing it off. End in sight, then I feel its time for a nice little dovetailed box with some veneer/inlay work [emoji16]

How have I missed this build?

I’ve always liked that style of toolchest and I’m looking forwards to seeing it all finished. G’donya too for using recycled timber.

Doing some repairs on 2 screws that broke off. I found a neat way to remove these pesty brass screws. I used a diamond tile cutting bit to surround it, then in with the chisel to remove it. Once capped its as good as new. [emoji16]

Probably better than using a plug cutter.
I've also done it by drilling 2-3 small holes alongside the screw, then getting it out with needle-nose pliers.

And it's done (apart from 4 brass corners for the bottom which is on order).

I ended up finishing it with Osmo Polyx Satin as I didn't have any Danish oil left. I think I prefer the satin as the Danish oil would probably have been too glossy.

    Here's some photos.

    Hope you enjoy.

    Cheers

That's an excellent job; well done!

Quick question; what is the dinky little smoother next to the block plane?
