    Default Tri-purpose box

Tri-purpose, box built 1) as a step to enable, shorter statured folk into my boat, 2) Doubles as an Icebox, 3)storage. Just wish i had more stage photo's than just these 2.

Started with 12mm, waterproof exterior ply, then once constructed, laquered to protect against the elements. Built a 2nd box that would fit inside the main one as a shell to fiberglass. 2-3 layers of glass and then 5 coats of coloured resin coated the inside to get the white (awesome stuff, not good for the nostrils though). Although someone did forget to mention the wax spray i should've used first. Hence grain pattern in fiberglass skin. I then lined the inside of the exterior box with 10mm polystyrene sheets, from an aquarium shop. i trimmed the skin, slid it inside then attatched to sides. I used more resin to fill in the top section of insert to fit flush with the sides.

The top is 20mm H/E ply for support, I built a waxed frame this time around the outside and kept layering resin up to a sufficient level to be able to seal in the cold., Once finished, covered in marine carpet used stainless fittings and nylon hinges and whala, the beers are still cold 24hrs later!!

good idea but make sure that what ever you put in the exy bit is well sealed for when you invert it.

Thanks guys. The esky stays as it is, no need to invert, the shallow section of the esky sits on the split level of the boat. The lid is the actual step, you step down onto the lid as its nestled between the front seats and still leaves plenty of clearance to be able to turn the seat round and or lift the lid to access cool bait and or drinks.

Great job. Not to sure about the beer and the bait in the same esky. One or both aren't going to be to tasty to the comsumer.

Concept to completion, that's a beaut!

Do me a favor will you? Take a cold beer out of your cooler, and have one on me...

    Cheers.

Let it be such work as our descendants will thank us for; and let us think...that a time is to come when those (heirlooms) will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say, as they look upon the labor and wrought substance of them, ‘See! This our father did for us.’ “ --John Ruskin. Audels Carpenters and Builders Guide, 1923 Theo Audel & CO. New York.

Thanks, i'll have several next time i get out. Bait flavoured beer, there's nothing better, atleast the wife can smell you've been fishing!! Its only kept in there whilst frozen on the top level away from cans. I managed to get hold of some flexible welding jacket coolers, awesome as they fit snuggly between, under and over the beer. Its pretty handy having a mate with contacts in the metal world, especially stainless!!
