    Default Walnut w/ Leopardwood box

A small box I made for something to do while I was glueing up another tounge drum. Dimensions are 6x4x2 1/2" tall. Body is Walnut and the top panel Leopardwood. It is finished with 4 coats of Watco oil wet sanded to 1000 grit, French Polished, and caranuba wax buffed on with a white scotchbrite pad. The interior lining is 2mm foam wrapped in a velvet type material.

    Gecko,

The timing of your post could not have been better. I have been struggling all week trying to come up with a design for my first box and I think you just provided it for me. It is basically what I had in my head, but I never could get it clear enough in the forefront of my brain. While knowing mine will never come close to being as grand as yours, at lease you have provided a target/goal for me to work toward. Tomorrow is my big day to start.

Excellent job as always and beautiful choice of woods
    Cheers,
    Bob

Good one Gecko. A figured timber like that needs a simple, elegant design and you've hit the spot. Well done.

Nice one, I love that box. I like your joinery and then rounding it over like that. Never have used Leopard wood before but have some thin stock I have been saving for a flat lid. Might just have to do that. Nice job Gecko!

Another great looking box. I like the angle details on the lid and the lines of the box are very nice.
