Whacky tissue box
There is definitely nothing else like it, I am sure.
A pile of waste bits from this seasons tissue box making.
A dry run.
They are glued up and had a run through the thicknesser.
The item marked with the arrow is another whacky project which I will leave with you to ponder what it will hopefully become, any ideas.woody U.K.

Good to see that you are not wasting anything John.

No to all.
A little more progress.
very stressful cutting the thing in the correct spot on the bandsaw into two pieces.
Then routing off a rebate even more stressful, (didnt like the experience at all)
Then putting it back together again.
Then revealing what the box is for! Batteries AA & AAA storage and a drop on lid to be fitted next..

A small amount of progress yesterday, timber prepared for doing the lids of the two boxes, plus a preview of whacky box.

Pleased to show pictures, the carcass of whacky box has sanded down well and the pattern I admit is unusual but that is its attraction to me.
The battery box lid was prepared from some Lime timber given to me over five years ago from a carver. The original piece of timber had been carved into an owl form and the piece given to me was the waste lump that had been sawn off the original block.
Quite amazing to me is that I prepared the Lime down to around 8mm thickness and have inserted a contrast piece through its centre to get extra width but the flat as cupped. This is perhaps a piece of wood that has been off the tree for 10 years. Perhaps it is stress related. Leaving for a few days to see if it recovers.woody U.K.

Got the two projects finished apart from another sanding to do.
The lid recovered it must have been stress.
display.
After three weeks of daily rain, I dont think this lovely crop of strawberries is going to be any good, I think they will just rot because no sunshine forecast again for this week.
Want some plans now for a cantilever sewing box to make for a daughter.woody U.K.

Bit slow in my replying but not forgotten. Nice work on the boxes. Why did you build a seperate battery holder?

Thanks all for replies, the excercise was to use up lots of waste pieces but knowing work would be required to make them work. Modern glues and fearless sanding was the trial on that one.
