    Default Partially assembled

Finished the dovetailing on the base. Thought of doing it on the sides but then had second thoughts. Just did rather long finger joints with a band saw.

Picked up some skirting board last hard rubbish day. That is what is on the base that can be seen in the first picture already screwed on.

Also took apart a wardrobe that was being thrown out. That is where the half rounded pieces came from. They will be mitre jointed around the base. One of the pieces was too short so I used an off cut to finish it.

The second image shows the lid that will be attached once I get the hardware.

Nice work on the joinery, not sure the two methods work together but very nicely executed in both instances. You must be very pleased with the results so far.

I don't understand the purpose of the dovetails, are they simply decorative?
Edit that, I worked it out, just didn't see the bottom panel in the first instance

    Default Nearly finished

    Sides are screwed together.
    Hinges are on.
    Got a hasp and lock.
    Tools are in.
    And it is all padlocked.
My tools are safe and sound.

The hinges allow the lid to be opened fully.
The screws in the sides are there more to provide shear resistance than anything else.

Just need handles and the the mouldings around the base and then I am done but at the moment I have a fully operational toolbox. (queue death star theme music)

It is a rather good feeling being able to put my tools away in a toolbox that I have built.
