    Default Wooden catches

I'm after ideas on making my own wooden catches for my boxes. Can anyone refer me to websites or even their own work?

Thanks, Wendy but I couldn't find anything on catches there. I'm looking for ways to keep the boxes shut without having to use the standard metal catches.

Oh yes, Hatches, Catches and Latches.

Sorry Tiger, my mind jumped to wooden hinges... (does that mean my mind needs a hinge??)

Here's one for you Fine Woodworking magazine #179

If I remember correctly, in one of James Krenovs books, he went into some detail on wooden latches/catches for his cabinets.
They could be relevent for what you are looking for. If you have access to some of his books that is.

I will have a look at the ones I have, and see which book it is in.

wooden handles, hinges, locks, catches and latches is an area I've had a great deal of fun researching. Even going so far as to keep a personal library of pictures of just these alone.

I also keep an eye out for decent picture books, eg 400 Boxes, 500 cabinets, Treasure Chests and probably my favourite at present would be "Homes of the Masster Wood Artisans", Skinner and Whitsitt, which has stacks of pictures of Esherick's, Maloof's and Nakashima's homes. Just amazing, especially the pictures of Maloof's and Esherick's door catches.

One could say you are "unhinged".
