Bubble wrap would protect it as Camphor is pretty soft, but on Franks point... we had a coconut sent to us years ago that just had a few stamps on it and a bit of paper with our address sticky taped around it.
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

It would be pretty cool to see a plank of wood arriving in the post with some stamps and a bit of texta writing... The postie must scratch their head in wonder...
Looking forward to receiving it, and converting 70% to sawdust and the remaining 30% to something unrecognisable...
Cheers,

What Corbs said! getting out dents or patching dents in CL is not an easy thing to do sometimes, due to having to grain match the dent fill.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you all say when you get your CL
cheers

Ugh..Fine, I'll Pm you with the details
Due to lack of resources only 9 boards have been sent off so far, I chose the ones that were to be sent the furthest away to be sent first, So If I send off the others on Monday (I have the stuff needed now) you should all receive it at the same time. But if you don't one extra day won't make a difference.
See I had this cool idea to suprise you all by sticking a bit of 1x1" in with the camphor, just to challenge you a bit more. But due to much stuffing about during the packaging only two people got them. So you two, enjoy your pen blanks

Chookie mate, sorry but you're too late. I'd have no timber for you anyway, all pieces have been accounted for.
Sorry about that, but welcome to the forum

I got mine today, no pen blanks though (maybe I didn't tip the waiter enough...)
So... how do you make a box? It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Got mine today as well
No pen blanks for me either. Just not special enough, I suppose!
I had a box all planned out, but never having worked with Camphor Laurel before I've totally changed my mind now that I've seen it. The look of the timber just wouldn't work with what I had in mind.
Back to the drawing board!!!

Wow, that was a quick delivery to AusPost! If they work that fast again the rest of you should have the timber I posted off this morning
The pen blanks were supposed to go to everyone but due to a packaging stuff up didn't.
So whaddyou guys think of the camphor you got?

Somewhat brown and woody
Looks nice, definitely noticed the smell when I opened the packaging! it was well packed as well, so thanks for that.
There was actually quite a happy coincidence with the delivery. My wife was waiting on a whole bunch of stuff to be delivered and I happened to be on the phone to her when the postie van pulled up. She naturally got excitied thinking it was her stuff, so I was waiting for the 'What the ???? are you doing paying for bits of wood to show up?!?!' spiel when the postie delivered both of our orders. Nicely done as my order was promptly forgotten! If only I could organise that for something more expensive next time
thanks again to FC for organising this - should be fun!

Another coincidence... I was reading this post when the postie rang at the door with my piece of wood!
Very accurately packed, thank you FC. The timber has... "character" i.e. is full of knots, will need thinking how to use them to best effect. Hardly any smell, which takes away a bit of the character but makes it more widely useable.
Plus a pen size piece of... QLD maple? Thanks for the thought, I'll use it to share the friendliness with the pen turners. (I do not turn pens, looks too much like work to me...)
Down to the drawing board, now! First box in my life, but after buying 1/2 tonne of boards through Studley I really need to learn to use square flat pieces of wood...
