WWF Box Challenge!
Hi all!
Names are being taken down for the first Wwf Box Challenge. Participants will be sent a 750mm long piece of Camphor Laurel to create a box. Designs may be anything you want, but no turned boxes, they're kinda in a genre of their own for another time.
The boxes may be for any for any purpose or none at all. They may incorporate other timbers things like inlays, keys, edgings, knobs, pulls, handles etc. but not for full panels.
Non timber may be used sparingly; brass hinges, locks, magnets, sterling silver keys etc are fine.
Judging will be by opinion poll and 2 judges. The poll will count for 50% of the marks and the judges scores the other 50%. Points will be awarded for Originality, Creativity, Elegance, Workmanship etc.
Entry closes on the 25th, so get in quick!
Cheers,
Funky C

Hi Funky
How wide and thick is this bit of wood going to be Funky?
If you make a box 15cm sqr there is 60cm just for the sides without sawdust loss etc and another 30 cm for top and bottom if timber is 15cm wide
I may need someone around Geelong to resaw it for me if needed.I have the rest of the gear
How long do we get to make the box?Back To Car Building & All The Sawdust.

The timber is something along the lines of 5" x 3/4"
I'm thinking about a month to finish the box, entries closing on the 31st July.
Coffen is now on the list
