    Default xmas presents

These two boxes are some of an order I received from the Barwon Valley Woodwrights expo early this month.
They are identical in size to a box I made for swimbo a couple of years ago.

The one on the left is, Myrtle Burl veneer with Redgum surround and satin box inlay, red felt lined
The other is Birdeye huon pine veneer ,Black heart sassafras surround and African Blackwood inlay, lined with black felt.
The timber and internal is what the clients was asked for.
anyway good pocket money. nine fingers

    Nice work.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

Hi Andrew, Money doesn't come into it ,at my age the enjoyment I get making something special, keeping the mind active and body parts working is more importent. One of my neighbours ,same age ,big BMW,Foxtel etc, spends more time in front of TV and going to the Doc each week ,because he's useless with his hands. Good talker though (ex salesman)
hope I carry on for a few more years,
    cheers Nine Fingers

Hi Vern, You had better start stocking up,as I hope to get up north again next winter.
Not much left of what you gave me in 06, mainly small turning pieces.
Will be looking for some CQ timbers in sawn boards, small stuff for trinket and jewellery boxes.
Will be in touch in the new year if all go's as planned.
    regards John.

Those are very nice boxes. Well thought out and executed. If I may ask, what finish did you employ on them?
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.
