Making 2mm spacer for Gifkin jig
I need to make a couple of 2mm thick U shaped spacers to go on my Gifkins jig. The outer dimensions of the spacers are approx 100 x 50, and the U sides are 50mm wide and 50mm long.
I have the complete set on order and in the mail, but want to keep working this weekend
Can anyone please suggest a suitable material?regards,
Dengy

For a short term fix probably the easiest would be to use some cardboard (say from cereal boxes).

Depends on how cheap the card is in cereal boxes these days, you may need one or two layers. With my luck it would be one and a half layers. You can also cut up plastic milk bottles if you want some slip and always remember that tape is your friend - masking tape, Duct or cloth backed tape, even common sticky tape can all be used either singly or in combination to make up shims of any required thickness.
If you have a 'good' model builders/hobby shop nearby you can buy small styrene sheets in very exact thicknesses from a few thou' up to 1/8"(3mm) or so - Bergs in Paramatta or Hobbyco in Sydney or Rhodes are two, or architectural model makers suppliers ($$$).
