Morning Lappa & Template Tom - a wild though and quite probably way off.

Could a drill press be used ? Has the tilting table and then use an up cut or down cut bit . With the jig held in the mitre slot as per the router table set up ?????

As I said a wild idea - I don't have a drill press at home and will NOT experiment down at the Men's Shed for safety & protocol reasons.

    Regards - UPO - Richard

    Good Morning Richard
Good to see some more ideas submitted to the Forum.

I would say from what I have done my answer would be Not possible. Remember I also said not possible with the router. Then I had to apologize when I set out to give it a go with success with the angle only 5degrees which was not suitable for the person wishing to produce the boxes so I then decided to give it another go and came up with another solution/ At that stage I did not produce a box with the angle 15 degrees only a sample of the joint but it did prove it could be done with a bit more work to complete the boxes. Once the base and top were secured they were used by the Australian Light Horse infantry to pull along ammunition boxes behind the horses

This box joint Jig that I made a long time ago has been sitting on top of a cupboard basically because it wasn't consistent - it was very hard to make small adjustments to get the fit right.
I had a need of it this week as I wanted to build some drawers for my SCMS table. So I looked at what was wrong and what modifications where needed.
i added stronger springs and a locking thumb wheel adjustment on a 1mm pitch thread that hopefully would allow for more accurate adjustment.

It seems to work fine - two trial runs to get the fit right then turned out a drawer.

Fingers were a fraction too long so brought them level on a shooting board then a quick sand.
Only problem is that it's big and bulky and somewhat cumbersome for what it does
