Dropstix, take the time to lean the manual and jig, it will pay off in the long run. The more you use it the more familiar you will become in its use has been my experience, a great jig in my view. I also use a dedicated router for it so I know it's right to go each time, I got a good second hand B&D the aluminium 1960s type when they could make good routers and the guide fits also.
SBPower corrupts, absolute power means we can run a hell of alot of power tools

Thanks Superbunny. Have only had time to watch the DVD, which was very helpful. Had to collect my new thicknesser and table saw yesterday, so haven't had the time with the jig as I had hoped, yet. I've one router to dedicate to the jig. If I find another used one at a good rate, I think I'll snap it up so I can have one set for the dovetail bit and the other for the straight bit.

Very exciting!
A good idea to dedicate a router so as to make set up easier, but remember that every project will require different thicknesses of timber, different size DT's or FJ's. I tried having a router set up just for DT's, but the mucking around at the set up stage soon rendered this practise as fairly useless. However, you'll probably use the same size FJ's for projects, so that a dedicated router is a good call. Bet once you've tried the Leigh technology, you start thinking of the Leigh FMT. Now there's a cool jig!
Regards,
Rob

routers
A couple of routers as has been suggested is really good idea so that each is set up & readily available for the varied uses.
1/2"collet preferred but the choice of router should be one that is comfortable to use especially in a clean out back cut that should also be a consideration.
One important thing is also to have a comfortable stance using these jigs, tiredness can ruin a nice of work that you have put a lot of effort into.
The Isoloc templates are nice but exxy ,hard to justify unless you have the work for them.

I know you will enjoy the learning & achieving your aims with the jig ,however the manual is a godsend in knowing the jig.Johnno
Everyone has a photographic memory, some just don't have film.
