Thread: Leigh Jig + Triton JOF001

Haven't done it but did have a good look at the JOF a couple of months ago with a view to trying.

Plenty of power provided you are dealing with the smaller to medium sized bits in the Leigh range, probably enough for the larger ones as well.

The issue I found was getting an adaptor to mount the ebush. The standard Triton TRA/MOF template guides/adaptors don't seem to fit the JOF system base. If you go with a seperate sub base holding the ebush, you need to centre the ebush extremely well, then remove the centering cone to change to the router bit. In doing so, I feel that you will need to disturb the ebush and loose the centering. Due to the base design, I doubt that you could remove and restore the ebush without removing the sub base.

I have the Leigh jig and all 3 Triton routers. I have obtained excellent results using the big TRA001, but I reckon the MOF001 which is the middle size will do a very good job indeed. The only caveat here is that you should check which collet type comes with the MOF001. Recently they came with the better type which was released in the UK and USA but I think that the latest batch comes with the older style which cannot hold an 8mm bit with the 8mm to 1/2" adapter very well. If you are not sure about the collets, let me know and I will send you some info about it which includes photos of the 2 types of collets all in a PDF doc.

Thanks Les, the JOF001 fits the Leigh collect reducer perfectly so no problems there. I just have a problem with the Leigh e-bush and the universal router base. When I adjust the e-bush the entire guidebush rotates. When I tighten the bushing I cannot budge the ebush to make a looser/tighter cut.

I don't have the e-bush. So I cannot comment. The JOF001 should do what you require. Only when doing larger dovetails (D4R) with the bigger cutters may see the JOF001 struggling in hard woods.

I use the JoF001 in my Leigh mortise and tenon jig and I do hardwood. No problems with this router' s power at any stage and it's got th do more work than a dovetail jig will need. So I give it the For any Leigh jig IMHO. I also got the D4R as well and my routers are dedicated to a jig.
