    Default Triton Router table Mods.

Been busy making a new fence for my Triton router table ,it now completed so I thought I would post a couple of pics.

I used the original router base from the Triton because it is adjustable for squaring up to the table top when needed .I also used the original dust extractor cover at the back .
The fence is made from recycled laminated MDF and all the exposed edges were treated with Feast and Watsons polyurathane floor finish to seal the MDF .
The sliding fence faces have a 60deg angle cut on the inside ends to take matching sacrificial inserts to make zero clearance inserts for various cutters.
Also a tee track cut in the rear face with a tee slot cutter to afford locking them in place.
The tee track in the top part of the fence is 19mm x 10mm sail track.
All the bolts are made from 5/16 cuphead bolts ,just a bit of grinding to make two flats on the edge of the head and they fit nicely.

Feather boards are made from scrap Oak and Jarrah.

The aluminium top and sliding table mod was done a while back .

    Hi Kev,

That is one suped-up Triton Router table. Very professional. Look great. Ripper table.

I'm impressed. Really like the sail track idea. And you are right about the wing nuts, they have to go. Black knobs will look and work so much better.

Let us know how you go at tracking down the ones you want.

    Cheers

Tried calling them today , they are closed until the 12Jan .
I also noticed on thier website today that they are wholesalers only .I thought that crap went out the window when jack boot Johnny bought in the GST.

Any way Got onto Bolt.com.au website and sent an e-mail regarding the 5/16"whit threaded knobs . A couple of hours late I received an phone call from Matthew from bolt.com.au .
Informing me that they can supply the imperial thread ,but in 5/16UNC which is not a problem , just a difference in the thread angle .He is e-mailing me a couple of links so I can check them out tomorrow.
Will keep you informed on how I get on.

    Update on the knobs ,
Called Mathew at bolt.com.au today ,as the e-mail didn't make it thru the security crap at work .
Any way I ordered 12 of the female knobs and six male .a bit expensive but at least Ill have a supply to last me a while.
He sent the e-mail to my home computer so I can post the links to the knobs if anyone wants to check them out. Email as below.

    "Kevin,

I wanted metric. I got Elesa wing nuts from Dana Ridge. Elesa make imperial too. (read about it on another thread here somewhere about knobs and sail track)
    http://www.dana-ridge.com.au/content/elesa.asp
<$50 for 10, free shipping for first order via their google ad (if the link doesn't work, google elesa and check the ad on the right hand side).
    http://Elesa-Ganter-Knobs-and-Handles.com

They had to special order them, took a couple of weeks.
Elesa has a really nice range, otherwise other shops that sell standard machine element sell similar.

You could always use a handle bar knob of a lawn mower these ones have a nut in them so that they don't strip ,or pinch em of the lawn mower in the shed

    Nicely done.

Considering the overall mods you've made to the table, I'm sorta wondering if there's any reason you didn't just build your own RT in the first place?
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

    Brett ,
Yes I replaced the wing nuts with nice plastic star knobs from Bolt.com.au as per above post .

    Skew
I paid $100 for the Triton table second hand , upgraded the router mounting kit $60.00 and got the aluminium for the top for nix. Thing is I can use it now , it will take me some time to build a new one which I plan to do in the future ,rather than have no table at all ,at least this one is going ,it was fast and easy to set up .A new router table would take me weeks and at least this one can be used to make the new one where as before I had nothing. This is quite functional and does all I need at the moment , when I get through the all the other jobs on the big list ,I have the plans to build a new one similar to the Norman Abrams one.

I have added dust extraction now , by way of some corrugated tube and a shop Vac .

When the new table is built then I will have two router tables.

mmm excuse for a new router ?

    Kev.
