We used a Sikkens product on our balustrades (pine stair case) but found a lot of drips and runs as well as the wrong colour tone (turned out more yellow than we intended).

We put 3 coats of the Sikkens but it never got to the right tone. So we want to try and now 'fix' it.

Should we be trying to strip the whole thing back? Should we overcoat it in a darker Sikken's product (and if so how many coats?) What about sanding it back and then coating it with Cabot's CFP and Woodcraft stain? (our stairs were finished this way).

Any advice on this would be appreciated.

We now have so much wood finishing stuff it's not that funny! (If only these things came in sample pot sizes and prices!)
