    Default Bird feeder finishing

Hi, I take part in a woodwork class at my school every week and I'm close to finishing a home made bird feeder. Although I may not have the time to do it in class, I was just wondering if anyone can give me any tips on finishing the product, such as paint e.g. Would appreciate any help.

    Thanks and keep on "woodworking"!

If it's going to be exposed to the elements, I reckon a good quality household exterior gloss paint would be a good finish.

Might depend on what timber you have used. One thing to be aware of with some birds, particularly parrots, is that they may also enjoy a bite or two of the feeder, so you want a finish that wont harm them, but keeps your piece in good condition outdoors, plus looks good. Some timbers are even best left natural. L
