Casting Resin
AlexS,
I bought a tin of casting resin from one of the Penrith stores on Tuesday night (can't remember which one there's 2 there). The resin was with the fibreglass resin and the catalyst they kept under the paint counter. I'm assuming because it gets knocked off or something. The hard part's trying to find someone to get the catalyst from under the counter for you.....

Some bang up-to-date info....our NEW shiny mega bunnies just opened last week in Mittagong (NSW Southern Highlands), and they have both the gloss and satin Minwax Wipe-On Poly on the shelf. If it was not going to be stocked in future you'd wonder why a brand new store would keep it.
Amusingly, they have tubs of shellac flakes on the shelf in every size, but don't sell any suitable solvent to use with it.....grrrr. Do I still need to head up to Carbatec to get industrial grade metho for shellac??? The 'Diggers' stuff sold at bunnies says 95% metho on the label.

I was just searching, and have decided that I reside in 2832, NSW, "COME BY CHANCE"

I was at a bunnings store today and the wipe on polys are back on the shelf. So don't worry there are plenty to go around.

And for the latest on the Minwax Wipe on Poly
... went into Bunnings Epping (Vic) today and
they had four tins of satin and two of gloss (now one).
The attendant in the paint section claimed that it
is a regular item and there are no indicators to show
it will be a discontinued item.

Anyone found minwax anywhere but Bunnings?
Been to two rather large stores here in Adelaide, one said they stopped stocking it last year, the other just looked blank.Coffee, chocolate, women. Some things are better rich.

A few months ago i bought all they had at the Gosford Store. The tins had been there a while and where rusted on top!
Back there today and they've not been replaced... Kotatra is not far for my father, I might get him to shoot across.
I believe this is a Sales Rep problem... (inconsistancies in stock levels that is). As I understand it, bunnings does not buy any of their stock untill it is sold??? (hearsay) but instead stock levels are kept up by the suppliers. if the rep isn't visiting for a few weeks it may be a while before stock returns.
I bought a box of pryda conectors (10 pairs) the 10 pairs a each packed indiviually and displayed in a other box. I took the whole box to the counter and the very nice sales lady took them all out of the box and put them on the counter. I asked if i could have the box to kep them in, she said no "the reps like to re-use them"...
This is also why it's also very easy to return items to the big B. If you return an item to The Lumber Bunker, we lose! as it's our Item, our captial thats invested. We don't what you back (for returns) so we get it right first time!Steven Thomas
