Thread: Bunnies dumps Minwax wipe-on poly

I was wondering the same. Last time I saw it at Bunnings there was only 1 tin left.

No; I have used some gel polyurethane instead on my current project instead.

Has anyone made their own wipe on poly?
How successful is it?

I have seen recipes that simply mix polyurethane with mineral spirits (Mineral Turps perhaps) in ratios of 60-75% polyurethane and the 40-25% mineral spirits.

Bunnings have taken a grip on the hardware market and now they are restricting what we have access to (triton, gmc, minwax, etc) What next?

Got the last tin at newcastle bunnies about a year ago , as for never hearing of it that is no surprise, went in yesterday to try to get some replacement sanding sleves for the ryobi spindle sander , (as bunnies will be the sole agent for ryobi after september,) and the friendly helpfull expert in the power tool section asked me what they were for ( i took the old packaging in ) he had never seen or heard of a oscilating spindle sander and of course had no stock , he then had to ask two others until he found a trained bunnies expert who even knew what one was
they just don't get any better

What?!! I guess I'll be off to Bunnings this week sometime to see what's left there..

I think that Bunnys is getting rid of a number of lines. I have noticed that a couple of lines are no longer on their shelves. The last item I have been trying to get is the Bosch 130mm buffing pad that connects to the ROS via velcro backing. The staff don't even know what I am talking about despite the fact that my last supply came from Bunnings. By the way, Bosch don't answer email from thier own web site.

Well! There are two tins of it at Scorsby Bunnies. Satin and gloss. Should I race in and buy it? They have a funny range of stuff. And the staff just go "oh that's what you use." As if fine wood working doesn't exist. and other shops doesn't exist.

I shouldn't post this but I know of two bunny's in the same town one hasn't got it the other does and they have new and old tins i.e plastic top and metal screw thread. I will be there on Monday and buy some more

equal parts of poly, linseed oil and turps makes a nice rub on finish

Just went over to Bunnys at Northmead (North Parramatta) and stocked up on satin, Still several tins left, plenty of gloss. Asked at the counter if the line is being dropped. The code at the register indicates that it is still a stock item. There are two other codes for items being discontinued. So who knows????
