Cut & polishing near edges with sides?
If I was to buff a shelf that had side walls, how do I get near the edge? Do I have to rub that area by hand? The tool looks like a buffer attached to a drill. Curious how others do it Thanks.

Do by hand.
OR
Protect other surfaces with sheets of thin (but not too thin) steel or similar. Be wary of catching edges with the buff, always make sure the buff direction is going off the steel, and be cautious about picking up smutting from the steel.
OR (best method)
Test assemble.
Disassemble.
Mask glue areas.
Finish.
Unmask glue areas.
Reassemble.
