Thread: Danish oil

I have always used cabots Danish oil for a line of souvineers that I make. However a year or so ago I noticed that this brand of oil had changed. It use to be roughly a kind of rich honey colour in the can and now its definately got a darker bluish black tinge to it. I notice that the directions for use seem to have changed as well. It used to be something like slop it on liberally, let it sit for 20 minutes or so then wipe off with a rag. Now its slop it on, let it sit for 24Hours! and then do the same.
This oil used to have a urethane content in it which could be built up in successive coats to give a nice lustre. Now it seems to have virtually no urethane content and appears to be watered down with kerosine or turps or the like.
I am starting to realise its no longer the product it once was.
Anybody else noticed this?
Any alternative suggestions(brands) for oil finishes which are oiled on then wiped off that give a good result would be appreciated.
Im not really keen on spending $80 per litre that I have heard quoted for some products.
