    Default Danish oil on Euro Beech

    Hi,
    has anyone ever used Rustins danish oil on beech??. I am remodelling the kitchen and using beech for face frames and raised panel doors.
    Does anyone think it is a bad idea, what would you suggest I use as a finish.
    It is a large project and I want to get the finish right from the start.
    All input will be much appreciated.

    Well in the deafening silence on your query, my offering is a meagre one!

    I turned a Euro beech platter and finished it with Organoil burnishing oil. Came up fine.

    These days I'd first off try Rustin's danish oil - my current finish of choice for turned objects - and given the above can't see why there'd be any problem at all.

    But trying some first on a bit of scrap would be cheap insurance.

    Tung oil might be worth considering, highly resilient,non toxic, very good for the worktops. Ive used it on beech before and found it to be fine.

    Ern,

    thanks for that. I have tried some Rustins danish on some scrap beech and it does come out very good. I was hoping someone may had had some experience regarding the robustness/longevity of the finish. Looks like I will be going the Rustins route and applying about 4 or 5 coats. On the scrap it does seem to be water resistant.
