Feast Watson Timber Decking Oil on Yellow Cedar Deck
I have been building a deck and cubby house for my daughter. I made the deck in January using Yellow Cedar from Bunnings as it is supposedly resistant to borers and decay and doesn't need treating with chemicals, a good thing for something your kids are playing on.
I finished the deck with four coats of Feast Watson Timber Decking Oil applied according to the instructions on the can. I was hoping to not have to recoat it more than once a year. Six months later it is covered in black spots, badly faded and showing signs of cracking.
Any advice on what I should do? Should it be sanded back and recoated? and if so, with what? Is it possible to get an outdoor decking finish that will last more than three months?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
