Thread: Filter / water trap for spray compressor

Not sure if this is exactly what you are chasing - I use a Norgren regulator which has what appears to be a better than usual water trap underneath. Just as an extra thought - mine is not attached to the compressor as most appear to be but is attached to the shed post at eye height with approx 2m of hose between the compressor and the regulator. I have also added a bypass valve which allows me to use a duster gun direct from the compressor without having to adjust the regulator all of the time, Eg regulator is set at 30 psi for low pressure spraying or 90 psi for air tools but I want to blow the dust off the job or mower - just switch the hose.

Mine is a Festo... Not cheap, but has worked great for years....
(I don't think any Festo stuff is cheap)
But I got what I paid for !!

I use one of the cheap in-line water traps like this when spraying lacquer On a 2.5 hp compressor doing small stuff http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gadgetpooluk.../dp/B007PWY714 . Actually, I use two, one on the gun and one on the compressor. To me it seems to work perfectly. I've never identified anything in the finished product that looks like an effect of moisture. Does this sound likely, or am I perhaps missing something? I dont want to upgrade unless I see an identifiable problem.

The only problem I see with it is that having it attached to the gun (plus a reg as well) means the gun assembly is rather long and awkward.

You could try SMC Pnuematic for a good one.
That's what we used throughout our large manufacturing plant when I was working for a living...

Oh, forgot something; make sure you drain the pressure vessel too; there will be a small tap/drain under one end of it and if you've not done it for a while do it outside as you will get a whole heap of oily mess blown everywhere....
