Finish for new T&G jarrah floors

Hello

Have had to replace some timbers in my beautiful floors, Basically I have 2 lengths of t&g jarrah floor boards freshly sanded and already fitted to the rest of the floor, I am unsure how or what products to use, to get the same finish as the rest of the floor!

I think they have used a 2 pac on the old floors, so can I just apply a similiar 2 pac to these 2 sanded pieces or am I better off sanding the whole floor... The old floor is in good condition, but does have a couple of little blemishes were I have been working installing the new timbers.

Try some of the two pac on an offcut first to see how it matches the rest of the floor. Then experement with stain and poly finish on offcuts until you get close. It is never easy to match new with old and get it exact. The timber darkens with age and uv light even under the finish. Depends how much difference you can live with.

Thanks for the help John, Was leaning towards doing something like you suggest.

Most of the lengths are under architraves. As I work around the room I can see more bubbles under the finish wich are just rubbing off completely. Is there anything I can seal the whole floor with again or is a wax the preferred remedy as opposed to re sanding the whole floor .

I guess you have to make a judgement call on the state of the existing finish. If the old stuff is blistering and lifting in places then wax will not stop that happening. I have recoated floors after just a light sand with a hand held sander. Not right back to the wood but just to get rid of the scuff marks. The existing cover was reasonably sound with some wear in the high traffic zones. All depends on the state of the existing cover. If it is lifting and degraded then a full sand may be the go. This will definately give you the best result of all the options.

What sort of product would you reccomend for a recoat job, and what grit would you use? Thanks for the help mate, bit of a newb here lol.
