Question What finish should I try?

My early bookcases were finished with polyurethane. But all my later projects have been finished with Danish Oil.

My current project is a small apothecary cabinet type thing, which will be used regularly, and will be on my desk. Made of tassie oak, with jarrah on the drawer fronts.

I would appreciate some suggestions what is a good finish to experiment with next.

I am considering trying a shellac finish. How about some sort of laquer (what and where do you get laquer?).

I am usually impatient to get the project inside and used, but I am prepared to spend some time doing a finish. I'm not intersted in French polish. I do have Neil's Polishers Handbook.

    Regards
    Sandra
