Finishing cape lilac/ white cedar
There have been a few threads on white cedar on the forum and the consensus seems to be that it is good to work but difficult to get a polished finish because it is a coarse wood.
I have got hold of some small pieces suitable for box making and small turnings (eg candlesticks) but I am waiting for it to finish seasoning. The medullary rays and tight growth rings show some real potential.
Has anyone out there had any success finishing this timber to a polish? Are there any tips anyone has for getting a decent finish?Graeme
