Default Fler/Don Narvik Set - how do I treat the wood?

I bought this set on Gumtree, as a Xmas present to myself. It was quite cheap, but I like the style. Not sure if it's Fler or Don or something else, as there are no tags or stickers.

On closer inspection of the lounge, I now realise it used to be a much longer day-bed that some gumby decided to "renovate" with a saw, drill, brackets and screws . Why you'd do that to a day-bed is beyond me, but perhaps s/he was particularly short?

I'd like to know what wood it is and how it should be treated. I want to give it some TLC and minimise any further damage. Should I sand it lightly first? Tung oil/danish oil?

    Thanks in advance.

Well the photos of the furniture are good, but a close up of the timber would be better to answer your question.

However the style says (to me) it's of the Teak furniture style and type.
