Default How to keep French Polish looking good

    Hi all
I've been practicing french polishing on my projects for a few months now and I'm at the stage where I've got a very nice finish that I'm happy with. Is there anything recommended to put on over the french polish to reduce finger marks and generally keep it looking good?
    Advice appreciated

After the french polish has hardened, normally about two weeks, I give it a final coat of hard wax. Side tables that I did about 6 years ago are still perfect and haven't needing waxing so far.

Ubeaut's traditional wax is a good one to use as it won't show fingermarks.

I agree with Sturdee that once shellac has had a good opportunity to completely dry and harden, wax is a great way to protect it. However I'm not sure of the proportions of components in Traditional Wax. I admit it a great product, but for your particular purpose I'd be using one that is as high as possible in carnauba wax. Feast Watson make one, as does Gilly Stephenson, for example. Being a very hard wax, carnauba is very resistant to fingermarks etc.
"Come sit down beside me" I said to myself, and although it didn't make sense,
I held my own hand as a small sign of trust, and together I sat on the fence.
