Default Furniture polish for ebony-finish piano

 I have a ebony-finished piano (real ebony finish); am wondering if anyone can suggest a good furniture polish I can use on this to clean it up; I used to use an excellent cream liquid polish when I was in the USA but cant remember exactly what it was; the piano has made the trip to Australia and is quite grubby; do not want to use a wax type polish such as Mr Sheen; any suggestions greatly appreciated; cheers

Mr Sheen is a silicon based product, not wax.
There was a product called Marveer but I am not sure what is in it.
Most polishes are going to be oil or wax based and Traditional Wax does impart a nice finish, and is not silicon based and has only a small amount of bees wax.
    No sticky finish either.
Maybe a call to Allens Music will yield a few more options.

Warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Dry it off as you wash it down. This will clean it up for you, then if the surface is in really good condition leave it alone.

    Cheers - Neil

PS I wouldn't be using Marveer or Mr Sheen on it for that matter I wouldn't have put the cream polish either. If a surface is in good condition it really doesn't need anything at all on it. And being as how it is Ebonyu Finish it is far too good to go trying all sorts of stuff on.

Do you know if it was finished with shellac or was it lacquered?

Which is why I suggested Allens or similar who sell $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ pianos, sure they would have an appropriate cleaner for them.
