Glue and dye?

I have just got a pack of U Beaut water-based dyes to have fun with. Naturally with other finishes I keep the stuff off joints that are going to be glued. But will Titebond III adhere to timber that has been given a dye treatment. I could of course go out to the shed and experiment but if I ask here, and the answer is "okay", I might also get an explanation of why it works where other finishes interfere. Hoping I can do it and that my glue won't fall off in a month's time or something bad. If you know, please tell me.

Yes you can use pretty much all glues over our water dyes.... Why because they're water dyes and as such are absorbed into the timber the same as ordinary water. There's no oil, wax, or any other residue left behind to stop the glue from adhering to the surface.

You can also nix the water dye with water based glues to colour them if you wish.

Thanks Neil, that is really good to know, it means I can dye some panels for a box and then glue them into a frame without fear of colouring the sides of the frame.
I am going to have a lot of fun with those dyes, I've got some American oak wine cask offcuts and I'm curious to see what happens.

Could get some unexpected results with the oak especially if the wine was high in tannin. try on a separate piece to make sure there are no unexpected surprises. You may also get a surprise with the colour the glue goes. Whatever you do keep metal away from it when you glue up, as it could turn the timber black due to reaction with tannin in the timber.
