Default Polishing Vic Ash/Tassie Oak Flooring. How do I remove carpet square glue?

    Hi All.

I'm new to this forum and look forward to learning and contributing.

My home has a 70's extension (family room) which has unsealed solid Vic Ash/Tassie Oak floor boards covered with carpet squares.

I plan to sand and polish the floor but my initial problem is that the floorboards are coated with strips of some kind of carpet glue used to hold the carpet squares in place. The glue is fairly thin and flush with the boards.

Should the glue be removed before sanding takes place or will the drum sander sort things out?
I understand sanding belts are expensive and a wood grade may clog up with the adhesive.

How should I tackle this preparation?

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Hi Rocky,
I'd hit it with the sander. First belt should sort it out.
But don't send me the bill, if it doesn't.
    cheers
