    Default Jarrah burl - how to make it nice, shiny etc?

    Hello,

    Picked up this jarrah burl the other day, my first one ever so not quite sure how to finish it off?
    Suggestions appreciated.

    There would be so many ways to finish a beautiful piece of timber.
    Here are some expamples Handcrafted Woodwork - Livos Australia
    It would be a good idea to test out some timbers and products on sample pieces first to figure out what one can achieve and how.
    I must say I am partial to the penetrating oils. Because they contain waxes, one can manipulate the sheen level somewhat. If it will be a surface that will come in contact with food, the Kunos is also certified food safe.

    You scored a nice piece there!

    As for a choice of finish, what do you intend to turn it into? That will narrow down the list of suitable choices.

    I've long been a fan of Tung Oil, but that tends to take a looooong time to apply sufficient coats; so instead I'd probably go for a blond Shellac. Whatever you do, please, please don't choose a Poly U!

    And pix of the finished piece, please.
