    Default lambs wool applicator

    hey all...

when watching 'better homes and gardens', whatsy's name who does the woodworking segments uses a lambwools applicator to apply his poly on whatever he has built, such as a dining table...does a very fast job with top results...

anyone here use a lambswool pad on furniture, is there problems with fluff, figured i have to wash it or something before use...

like to know your experiences ...

    Hi La Huerta,

I've never had to apply lambs wool to anything!
When applying poly, I use a soft cotton cloth. I usually pour the poly directly on to the surface (close to one end) and then gently but firmly drag the rag from one end of the surface to the other. This usually gives a very even, non streaky, non fluffy result.

    Regards,

    Rob

The standard mop for applying 2 pack to floors is lambwool. Does a great job, but a bit $$ exxy unless you can completely wash it out.

You're right Bodgy, they are indeed ultra $$. To expensive and labour intensive (cleaning) for small areas methinks.

Too expensive unless you buy cheap immitation but it sheds like a cheap dog. I use a well worn Tee shirt, nice sized pad of that soft cotton cloth will spread any finish well.

Has been my experience. Remember, those guys on TV have someone else buying their supplies.

I have found the foam brushes quite good for applying wipe on poly.

With the 2 pack floor finishes, estapol etc, i used to use a mohair roller and the results were better than the sheepswool.

I imagine that it would work as well with poly.
