    Question mixing coats of polyurathan clear coats

    just wondering on my peice that i am making i have put a couple of coats of mirrortone satin finish, will it be ok if i put a gloss finish ontop, but from a different manufacturer, they will not react with each other will they.

    If both paints use the same thinners there shouldn't be any problem.
    Its generally better to build up with gloss, denibbing between coats. Many coats of satin etc can be slightly opaque as low sheen finishes have additives to flatten the gloss (which can detract from the clarity).

    There are a couple of cautions.

    Mirrotone are vary particular about compatability between some of their (and other) products.

    If the two products are of the same family you should be ok.

    but pre-catalised over acid cure & visa versa is naughty.

    I wouldnn't mix polyeurathane and anything else. get the idea.

    same family of fininshes should be ok.
