Morris Chair - Finishing Hard Timber With Splinters
Could I get some advice please. I ended up with some old jetty timbers cut from I think Australian Turpentine or Spotted Gum. Either way they are an extremely hard hardwood. I decided at the time to make myself a Morris Chair. So I cut and planned most of the weathered face of the jetty boards off which left an amazing patina effect with the wood grain. The chair is all but cut and ready for assembly but I'm very concerned with some timbers still showing some roughness or even splinters. Removing this roughness would have also removed the patina effect which I love, so I have left it as much as possible. So is there a product that I can finish off the chair as in a resin or poly or something in a matt finish that would contain the roughness and splinters?
Thanks
