Where to find Nitrocellulose Lacquer
Been on a bit of a tear (or is it terror) with French polishing but want to go back to an ol faithful for the next couple projects. In Canada, USA and the UK I used to use NC lacquer a lot but haven't used it here. Any suggestions as to a specific supplier (not just suggesting the auto industry...) that I can buy it from at a reasonable price (that might be a stretch considering this is now the post covid era of the opportunistic gouge). Probably gonna need 4L at least...

Is Mirotone a NCL ? They have a few types.
I tried some thinner bases stuff but something was wrong and I got terrible blushing white problems with the sanding sealer during the winter. Never got around to ringing the rep to solve it I just gave up and went back to trusty Oil based Wattyl.

Hey Rob, whats the Wattyl stuff you been using?.
As for the lacquer, I've found these but its expensive so I'd like to hear of any cheap places aswell.

I've used the Mohawk, but only in spray cans, actually I was using it today to finish a box. It provides a beautiful finish and a little goes a long way. But it is expensive. You've got to love the very short drying time, sand after 30 mins. It's no trouble to get 4 coats on in a day. If time is short it's pretty hard to go past.

It's been a lot of years but I seem to recall winters, especially in Canada was hard on spraying lacquer. I seem to recall it was a white fog in the finish. Might have been water readily forming in the lines. But I don't remember what we did to fix the finish. Though warming the shop helped to stop it from occurring.

Mirocat PC3220 is the closest thing I have used to a true NC finish. It's fantastic stuff. I use the slow thinner to give it time to level out, as I'm not the greatest spray painter.
