Thread: OSMO Hardwax or similar?

I've not used this product but several of the members of my club converted to it a couple of years ago and swear by the finish it delivers. From what I've seen of their work it certainly does what it says on the can.

Sorry I can't offer any practical advice on it's use from experience.

There is Kunos Oil I think it is called! Jim Carrols sells it! Prolly a similar thing to what you have been looking at!

Found the Osmo on Amazon $33.95 (compared to $57.00 plus $19.50 to have it sent) unfortunately it takes up to 16 days to get here.
We have cut the slabs to size today - 50mm thick, white maghony boards 3.8 metres long, very careful with the saw - measure upteentimes and cut once!!
we have had them racked and drying for 7 years after milling them from a big old tree that we lost in a storm.
Will post as to how the product performs.

You can try Whittle Wax in Boronia. I believe it is one of their range.

I'm located in the US and we ship this great stuff all the time. Problem is that the Top oil which is the food grade cannot be air shipped due to is low flash point. We do ship the OSMO polyx oil 3054 via air as limited quantities (no more than 5 liters per box) as ORM-D. This product is not food grade so only use it for the benches or floors. I really cannot say enough good about the complete line of OSMO. I have been in the woodworking industry for many years and now only want to finish with this product.

I guess technically it can be shipped, just not economically for small shipments. This product is listed as UN1263 - Class 3 Paint. UN stands for United Nations and is a governing body for international shipping categories. The different levels of that class has to due with flash point at which temperature the product will "flash" or start fire. The ORMD is an exception for limited shipping quantities of up to 5 liters. We can ship this via air anywhere in the US but when you get to international that's when it gets more complicated. We could ship by ground or really boat but cost are so much more and the time it takes to arrive is really not acceptable for small consumer shipments. You would also have custom charges and a few fixed entry fees that you would not if we could ship via Postal service.
